Celebrating my Sister's Birthday in Mobile, Alabama

My sister, April, turned ### this year and I offered to celebrate with her in Mobile, Alabama. I promised good food, lots of drinks and ghost hunting. She was on-the-fence until ghost hunting. Read all about our maraudering (spelled wrong but sounds better this way) and pillaging around downtown Mobile over the next few pages including Dauphin's, Dauphin Street, Battle House, Malaga Inn, Cigar Bar, seancing (yes, more misspelling with intent) and more. Don't worry about my spelling and grammar please. It is far better than how Siri or Google Maps pronounce Mobile, Alabama.

Mobile Mardi Gras 2020

2020 was my second year renting the house at Fort Conde Inn downtown Mobile for Mardi Gras. The weather was perfect - clear skies, not too hot, not too cold (until Sunday when it rained all day, but we checked out and went home Sunday anyway).  I'm thankful my family and friends could join me again. I had a great time including our house party (parties), the afternoon stop at Dauphine's, sub sandwiches at JJ's, day parades, Friday night parade and Momma's favorite mimosas. Mardi Gras Mobile 2023

  2023 Mardi Gras was an awesome weekend with my family and friends. There are plenty of pictures to share with you on this page. Here is a recap of the weekend's adventures. Join us next year if you get a chance.  The weather was forecast to be cold and rainy all weekend, so I took my duck boots (great decision). Again, I rented 10 and 11 at Fort Conde Inn which are the two big rooms downstairs and upstairs across from the main building. Only April, Dan, Kelsy and Kash joined me Friday night. Everyone else came in Saturday morning.  April, Dan and I missed the Friday night parade. We ordered late at the Fort Conde Bistro and did not realize the parade was going to be over so soon. The three of us did try to catch the parade as it looped back into downtown, but April complained that we were running too fast and that her calves were burning. Mobile Carnival Museum

December 15, 2018 Mobile Carnival Museum We left Malaga Inn walking towards Dauphin Street. The Mobile Carnival Museum happened to catch my attention so I brought everyone over to tour. The museum is on Government Street and has the large Mardi Gras jokers on the porch (we should have gotten photos with those guys). I've passed it many times. I'm glad we stopped to take a tour. This place has plenty of history and memorabilia. We watched a short movie first. The lady that started the movie gave a short history/intro before it started and she did a very entertaining job. My favorite part was about Alabama becoming the Republic of Alabama (we all cheered at this), but it only last for about nine months because the politicians could not figure out how to keep us going instead of fattening their own pockets (tru dat, we all sighed).
